The city of Mérida, in the Mexican state of Yucatán, is strengthening its position as a key hub for bitcoin adoption. This comes with a new partnership between the Acepta Bitcoin 21 community, the company Arcadia BTC, and the local Software Technology Institute.
The director of Arcadia BTC, José Flores, served as a witness to the signing along with Maciej Cepnik, marketing director of the firm Aureo, formerly known as Swapido. The company confirmed its support for this project as it grows and thrives.
Mérida has recently emerged as an important node for Bitcoin in Latin America. This local educational initiative takes place in a context of accelerated adoption in countries like Bolivia, which is turning to bitcoin and cryptocurrency in the face of dollar shortages and devaluation of its national currency, the boliviano (BOB).
ArcadiaBTC is a Mexican financial company founded in 2017 that became the first company to be listed directly on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) whose central strategy revolves around Bitcoin, following in the footsteps of leading companies in Bitcoin adoption.
Now, ArcadiaBTC is actively supporting Bitcoin education in Mérida, where the educational and cultural revolution is no longer limited to classrooms or to the major cities of the north. In October 2025, a group of bitcoiners displayed Satoshi Nakamoto’s White Paper in a public square as a symbol of financial sovereignty.
This act, carried out during the inauguration of White Paper House, the first physical center for education, innovation, and exclusively bitcoiner building in southeastern Mexico, marked a turning point. What just a few years ago would have been unimaginable in a conservative and traditional city is now openly celebrated by entrepreneurs.
The signing of an educational agreement on bitcoin between ArcadiaBTC and the Mérida Software Technology Institute demonstrates that education in this context has strategic and symbolic value. It is a sign that corporate adoption is not disconnected from grassroots work.
Currently, the Mayan Bitcoin Conference is being held until December 7, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Mérida. It brings together thousands of participants for talks on financial sovereignty, hackathons, and Mayan cultural excursions, highlighting the role of Bitcoin in emerging economies.
