Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, criticized the Ethereum community for downplaying Polygon's contributions. He expressed disappointment that Polygon has built many important infrastructures to scale Ethereum but still hasn't received adequate recognition. Nailwal stated that his loyalty to Ethereum is being tested, even though he came to cryptocurrency because of Ethereum's vision, not Bitcoin.
He emphasized that Polygon has never received direct support from the Ethereum Foundation but still contributes to strengthening the ecosystem. Nailwal also noted that Polygon could be valued 2–5 times higher if it operates as a Layer 1 network. His comments echo concerns from within Ethereum about centralization issues. Vitalik Buterin later acknowledged Polygon's significant role in the Ethereum network.
